Angola receives six HT-100 uncrewed helicopters from EDGE
The Angolan navy has taken delivery of six Anavia HT-100 unmanned rotorcraft from EDGE Group, following factory acceptance tests in Switzerland. The aircraft will be integrated with new corvettes for surveillance and reconnaissance missions.
The Angolan navy has taken delivery of six Anavia HT-100 unmanned helicopters from EDGE Group. Factory acceptance trials ran from August 24 to 28 at Anavia's site in Bilten, Switzerland, and included the first operational flying tests of all six systems.
The vertical take-off and landing aircraft will now be integrated with the navy's lead CMN Naval Combattante BR71 Mk II-class corvette. Sea trials of the combined capability are planned in Angola.
EDGE said two HT-100 systems are to be fitted on each of three corvettes. The unmanned helicopters will carry electro-optical and infrared sensors and be used for surveillance and reconnaissance.
The HT-100 has a maximum take-off weight of 120kg, endurance of about six hours, and top speed of 65kt, according to EDGE. The overall acquisition of the corvettes and unmanned aircraft is valued at €1 billion.
