Austrian Airlines has retired the first of its three remaining Boeing 767s. The aircraft, a 767-300 ER registered OE-LAZ, was formally taken out of service on Tuesday, 13 October, at the Austrian Lufthansa subsidiary's technical base.
The jet began its career with Lauda Air in 1999 and flew for Austrian Airlines from November 2004. Over its service life it completed 15,675 flights and accumulated 124,223 flight hours.
The 767 shaped Austrian Airlines' long-haul operations for decades. The carrier is phasing the type out in favour of the Boeing 787-9, which it says will modernise its long-haul fleet and cut fuel consumption.
Two Boeing 767s remain in the fleet following the withdrawal of OE-LAZ.
