Austrian Airlines is looking at up to three new destinations in Asia, its chief executive Annette Mann has said. She told the television channel CNA the carrier is reviewing the possibilities, but did not name specific cities.

The expansion is tied to renewal and growth of the airline's long-haul fleet. Austrian Airlines is phasing out older Boeing 767 and 777 aircraft and replacing them with Boeing 787-9s. The remaining 767s are to leave the fleet by December 2026 and the 777s by 2028, after which the long-haul fleet is to consist of twelve Boeing 787-9s.

Capacity has already been increased on existing Asian routes to Tokyo and Bangkok. Adding destinations would extend the Lufthansa subsidiary's presence in the Asian market.
