Aviationtag sells keychains made from Icelandair Hekla Aurora 757 skin

Aviationtag is now selling keychain-style tags made from the outer skin of Icelandair's Hekla Aurora Boeing 757, an aircraft with a Northern Lights livery that was retired in 2025.

The tags went on sale on the company's website this week, according to the article. They carry the livery's range of colors, from pale blue and turquoise through dark green to midnight blue. Production takes place at Aviationtag's facility in Cologne, and the run is described as limited.

The aircraft's skin was salvaged in Spain earlier this year. Icelandair took delivery of the 757 in 2004, and a decade later it applied a paint job depicting blue-green aurora ribbons over an Icelandic winter landscape. LED lighting reproduced the motif inside the cabin. The design was intended to promote tourism in Iceland; Hekla is the name of one of the country's most active volcanoes.

Before the plane left the fleet, Icelandair flew roughly 140 passengers on a sightseeing tour of Iceland, passing over coastlines, glaciers and mountains.

Aviationtag makes tags from commercial, military and general aviation aircraft. Carriers and air forces it has sourced from include Emirates, Lufthansa, Aer Lingus, the Royal Air Force and the U.S. Air Force.
