Boeing reaches tentative deal with 17,000 engineers and technical staff

Boeing and the union SPEEA have a tentative agreement on a new four-year contract covering about 17,000 engineering and technical employees, according to the union's account of the deal. The workers have yet to vote on the terms, so it is not in force.

The immediate effect is a lower risk of a strike, which had been set to begin on 7 October. In August, 64 percent of the engineers and 72 of the technicians rejected an earlier offer and authorised industrial action.

The proposed contract provides for a ten percent pay increase at the outset, followed by a further four percent from March 2027. For the three years after that, wage budgets of six percent are planned, with each employee to receive at least four percent. The talks also covered overtime, mobile working, career development and staff retention.
