Biman Bangladesh Airlines has placed a firm order for ten Airbus aircraft: four A350-900s and six A321neos. It is the carrier's first substantial purchase of modern Airbus jets.
Biman intends to use the A350s to expand its international network. The airline says they will support planned services to North America, and names Europe and the Middle East as markets for further growth.
The six A321neos will add capacity on regional and medium-haul routes. Biman describes the order as part of a broader fleet modernisation.
Rumee Hossain, chairman of the airline's board, called the planned expansion a measured and reasonable ambition, pointing to Bangladesh's growing travel market and its large diaspora.
