Birmingham Airport has set out a draft long-term expansion plan worth £2 billion, around €2.3 billion. It aims to lift annual passenger capacity to roughly 30 million within 15 years.
The proposals cover expanded and modernised terminals, more aircraft parking stands and a reorganisation of existing ones, and better baggage handling and landside transport links. The runway would be used more intensively.
Construction on the first phase could start in 2027. The airport says the investment could create about 3,800 additional jobs at the site.
Chief executive Nick Barton said delivery would depend on stable tax conditions.
