The Boeing 787 Dreamliner comes in three variants. The 787-8 is the shortest of the three, the 787-9 has longer range, and the 787-10 is stretched and offers the highest passenger capacity.
Boeing launched the programme in 2004, aiming to give airlines a more fuel-efficient option for long-distance flying. Its initial target was a 20% reduction in fuel burn compared with aircraft such as the 767.
More than 1,000 787s have been delivered to airlines worldwide, and the family has become a staple of long-haul flying.
