Boeing's smallest 737 MAX variant certified after near-decade wait
The Boeing 737 MAX 7 has received certification, closing a chapter that began nearly ten years ago with the program's launch.
Boeing has certified its smallest 737 MAX model, the MAX 7, almost a decade after the program began. The company launched the 737 MAX family in 2011 to compete with Airbus's A320neo, promoting efficiency gains through design updates such as the Boeing Advanced Technology winglet. That winglet was said to cut fuel use and CO2 emissions by at least 14 percent compared with earlier 737s. The program's path since then has been troubled.
