British Airways to add Tanzania routes in summer 2027, boost Latin America capacity

British Airways has set out its network plan for the northern summer of 2027, adding two destinations in Tanzania and raising capacity to Latin America by a quarter.

From 29 May 2027 the carrier will begin serving Kilimanjaro and Zanzibar, with the operation running through the end of the season on 31 October. Flights will leave London Gatwick, land at Kilimanjaro and continue to Zanzibar. The airline plans three weekly frequencies, with return fares starting at £849 including taxes, charges and hand baggage.

Neil Chernoff, the airline's director of planning and strategy, said the routes strengthen its presence in East Africa and form part of a wider effort to build long-haul connectivity from London through more capacity and flexibility.

Separately, adjustments taking effect at the end of March 2027 will lift Latin American capacity by 25%. The Buenos Aires link becomes a daily nonstop service from London — described as the only direct connection between the two capitals — with an extension to Santiago, Chile. Rio de Janeiro gains seats as its daily flight becomes a dedicated route without onward extensions. San José, Costa Rica also features in the changes.

The airline also announced a codeshare agreement with Porter Airlines aimed at expanding connectivity in Canada.
