Brussels Airlines to launch new winter routes to Arctic Norway and Finland
Brussels Airlines will add seasonal winter service from Brussels to Evenes, Kemi and Kittilä starting in the 2026/27 season, joining a broader Lufthansa Group push into Arctic destinations.
Brussels Airlines will expand its winter network with three new routes from Brussels-Zaventem to Arctic destinations in Norway and Finland, starting in the 2026/27 winter season.
Service to Kittilä, a gateway to Finnish Lapland, will run three times weekly from December 10, 2026 through March 27, 2027, the airline said. Flights to Kemi, near Finland's border with Sweden, will operate twice weekly between December 25, 2026 and March 10, 2027. A weekly route to Evenes, close to Norway's Lofoten islands, will run only in February and March 2027.
The airline said the new routes respond to rising demand for travel to northern destinations, pointing to winter scenery and the Northern Lights as draws for travelers.
The expansion fits a wider pattern among carriers in the Lufthansa Group, of which Brussels Airlines is a subsidiary. Group airlines reportedly operated up to 69 weekly flights to Arctic-adjacent destinations during the winter months as of March 2026. Lufthansa itself is adding a new nonstop route between Munich and Rovaniemi, along with extra frequencies to Kittilä from Munich and to Rovaniemi and Kuusamo from Frankfurt.
According to the airline, what was once a niche market tied mainly to Christmas travel and Santa Claus-themed tourism has broadened. It now draws a wider range of travelers seeking Arctic experiences.
