Brussels Airport tests mobile SAF blending unit

Brussels Airport is trialling a mobile blending installation for sustainable aviation fuel, running until the end of the year. The unit lets kerosene be mixed on site with a higher share of SAF, matched to demand, according to the airport. It says it is the first in Europe to trial such an installation.

The trial is the latest pilot under the European Stargate project. Brussels Airport says that programme has seen more than 30 projects implemented or tested to make operations more sustainable. Among them are electric ground handling vehicles, a digital system for cargo handling, and tests with hydrogen-powered ground vehicles.
