Caspian Airlines Boeing 737-500 seized in Istanbul over unpaid claim
A Boeing 737-500 belonging to Iran's Caspian Airlines was impounded at Istanbul Airport over an outstanding debt of about three million euros. Passengers and crew had already boarded for a flight to Iran when enforcement officers stopped the departure.
A Boeing 737-500 flown by the Iranian carrier Caspian Airlines has been seized at Istanbul Airport over an unpaid claim of about three million euros, according to the Turkish aviation news outlet Airport Haber.
The jet, registered EP-KPB, was boarded and ready to depart for Iran when lawyers for the Turkish aviation services company ACM Temsil Gözetim arrived with bailiffs. They acted on a court order and stopped the flight.
Passengers and crew disembarked, and the aircraft stayed at the airport. According to the report, it is 31.5 years old.
