EASA extends airspace warning for Mali through April 2027
The European Union Aviation Safety Agency has extended its warning for Malian airspace to 30 April 2027, keeping earlier recommendations unchanged. Carriers are advised to avoid low-level flights in the country's northeast.

The European Union Aviation Safety Agency has extended its existing warning for airspace over Mali until 30 April 2027. The recommendations themselves were not changed in the update dated 30 September 2026.
Airlines are advised to continue avoiding flights within Malian sovereign territory in the Niamey and Dakar flight information regions below flight level 260. The advice applies in particular to the northeast of the country.
EASA cites a high risk from armed non-state groups as the reason. According to the agency, these groups probably have man-portable air defence systems and surface-to-air missiles. Heavy attacks by such groups have also increased markedly of late, it said.
The agency further recommends that airlines monitor developments in the region closely.
