EASA extends Somalia airspace warning through April 2027
Europe's aviation regulator has prolonged its advisory against flying in Somali airspace at or below flight level 260, citing a high risk to aircraft. The content of the recommendations is unchanged from the previous version.

The European Union Aviation Safety Agency has extended its existing warning for airspace over Somalia until 30 April 2027. The recommendations themselves were not altered in the update dated 30 September 2026.
Airlines are advised to continue avoiding Somali airspace within the Mogadishu flight information region at and below flight level 260. EASA assesses the risk to flights and overflights at those altitudes as high.
As reasons, the agency cites the presence of terrorist organisations with demonstrated anti-aircraft weaponry, possibly including man-portable air defence systems, along with ongoing military operations. Carriers are also told to monitor developments in the region closely.
