Emirates develops accessible lounge suite and cabin familiarisation concept

Emirates is working on new offerings aimed at making travel easier for people with disabilities, including an accessible lounge suite and a way for blind and visually impaired travellers to explore the cabin in advance.

Emirates is developing new products to make air travel easier for passengers with disabilities. Two concepts are on show at the Access Abilities Expo in Dubai, which runs from 19 to 21 October.

The first is an accessible lounge suite with an electrically adjustable armchair, grab handles and space for wheelchairs. A prototype for the airline's first-class lounges is in development.

The second pairs spatial sound with seats that can be explored by touch, so travellers with visual impairments can familiarise themselves with the cabin before flying.

Emirates is also showing existing services at the expo, including biometric access systems and accessible check-in machines at Dubai airport.
