Flight EW590 left Cologne/Bonn Airport at about 8:40 PM local time carrying 131 passengers. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-800 registered OK-TSU, was flown by the Czech carrier Smartwings under a wet-lease arrangement for Eurowings.
About an hour into the flight, at roughly 26,000 feet over French airspace south of Paris, the crew declared an emergency and turned toward Charles de Gaulle. The plane landed safely at about 10:00 PM. No one was injured.
