Finavia Completes Approach Lighting Upgrade at Tampere-Pirkkala Airport
Finavia has finished modernizing the flight operations area at Tampere-Pirkkala Airport, investing around €1.1 million primarily in new approach lighting at the eastern end of the runway.
Finavia has finished renewing the flight operations area at Tampere-Pirkkala Airport. Around €1.1 million was invested, most of it in new approach lighting at the eastern end of the runway. Regular flight operations were not interrupted during the work.
The new installation is 900 metres long and includes 50 light masts and 136 lights with a total of 182 light sources. Around twelve kilometres of power cable were also renewed.
Tampere-Pirkkala is used for both civilian and military purposes. In 2025, the airport counted just over 140,000 passengers.
