Flydubai suspends Israel flights after in-flight attack on FZ1073

A Flydubai co-pilot reportedly attacked another pilot with a knife on a Dubai–Tel Aviv service, prompting the carrier to pause all flights to and from Israel while authorities investigate.

Flydubai has suspended flights to and from Israel for now after an incident on flight FZ1073, the airline said. The pause is meant to give authorities time to examine what happened.

On the Dubai to Tel Aviv service, a co-pilot is reported to have attacked another pilot with a knife. Cabin crew and passengers restrained him in the cockpit, according to the account.

The aircraft lost more than 15,000 feet of altitude within two minutes. Two other Flydubai pilots were on board and landed the aircraft safely at Tabuk in Saudi Arabia.

Flydubai then sent a replacement aircraft, which carried the passengers on to Tel Aviv.

The airline has not said when its Israel services will resume.
