French Bee leases Wamos Air jets to cope with cabin crew strike

French Bee has brought in Spanish carrier Wamos Air to supply wet-leased aircraft and crews as a cabin crew strike disrupts its schedule. The stoppage began on a Thursday and, according to union sources cited by newspaper La Tribune, is expected to run until August 31.

Unions are demanding higher wages and better working conditions for cabin staff. French Bee has said it intends to keep its overall flight programme running despite the industrial action.

Disruption has already occurred. A flight from Paris to Los Angeles scheduled for a Friday was cancelled, the union said, and transatlantic routes were described as the most affected.

The union estimated that leasing replacement aircraft and crews from Wamos Air would cost French Bee around eight million euros over a single week. No further financial or operational details were disclosed in the available reporting.
