French cabin and cockpit unions call five-day strike in October
Six unions representing French cabin and cockpit crew have announced a five-day strike from 17 to 21 October 2026 over a planned reform of post-retirement employment rules. The number of flights affected is not yet known.
Six unions representing cabin and cockpit crew in France have called a five-day strike from 17 to 21 October 2026, at the start of the autumn school holidays. Travellers in France could face cancellations and delays.
The dispute is over a reform of the rules governing continued employment after retirement, due to take effect in early 2027. Under the planned rules, pay from re-employment before the statutory retirement age of 64 would count in full against the pension, and at half between 64 and 67.
The unions say the reform does not take account of the particular working demands placed on flight crew. They remain open to fresh talks with the government.
It is still unclear how many flights would be affected.
