Frontier to launch Detroit–New York-LaGuardia nonstop in November
Frontier will begin daily nonstop service between Detroit and New York-LaGuardia on Nov. 20, later moving to three weekly flights, and is adding frequencies on four existing Florida routes from Detroit.
Frontier will add a nonstop route between Detroit and New York-LaGuardia, with service set to begin Nov. 20. The ultra-low-cost carrier plans daily flights during the holiday season, then three times weekly after that.
According to the airline, it already serves all three major New York-area airports but has not previously linked New York and Detroit.
The route was previously flown by Spirit Airlines, the now-defunct carrier. Frontier has recently revived several former Spirit routes as it seeks market share.
Josh Flyr, Frontier's vice president of network and operations design, said in a news release that the airline's continued growth at Detroit Metropolitan Airport means more affordable options for cost-conscious travellers.
Frontier will also add frequencies on existing Detroit routes to Miami, Orlando, Fort Lauderdale and Tampa. The airline did not specify how many additional flights, or when they would start.
