Gama Aviation sues over loss of Channel Islands air ambulance contract
Gama Aviation is challenging the award of the Channel Islands air ambulance service to 247 Aviation, alleging the Guernsey health authority broke its own procurement rules. The contract is due to start in December.
Gama Aviation has filed a legal challenge against the decision to hand the air ambulance service for Guernsey and Jersey to 247 Aviation. The British company claims the Guernsey health authority breached its own procurement rules, according to the Bailiwick Express.
The dispute centres in part on a late change to the aircraft requirements introduced by Jersey, as well as on how the competing bids were assessed.
Gama Aviation is asking for the award to be annulled and the process rerun, or failing that for compensation.
The company has operated the service since August 2020 using Beechcraft King Air aircraft. The new contract with 247 Aviation is scheduled to begin in December. The Northern Ireland-based company flies Pilatus PC-12 and Bombardier Learjet 45 aircraft.
