GCAP joint venture Edgewing opens engineering hub in Turin

Edgewing has inaugurated its first engineering site outside the UK, in Turin, where staff from Italy, Japan and the United Kingdom will work on systems for the GCAP next-generation combat aircraft.

Edgewing has opened an engineering facility in Turin, its first site outside the company's headquarters in Reading, United Kingdom. The company said the site was inaugurated on Oct. 9, 2026.

Engineers from Italy, Japan and the United Kingdom will work there. Those are the three nations partnered in the Global Combat Air Programme. Domenico Ciotti of the Italian National Armaments Directorate, Piedmont regional minister Andrea Tronzano and Turin deputy mayor Michela Favaro.
