GKN Aerospace unveils new UAV demonstrator less than a year into program

GKN Aerospace has presented a scale model of a new unmanned aerial vehicle demonstrator developed with Sweden's defence procurement agency and armed forces.

GKN Aerospace has shown a scale-model demonstrator of a new unmanned aerial vehicle at its site in Trollhättan, Sweden. The company is developing the drone with the Swedish defence procurement agency FMV and the Swedish armed forces.

The program began in November 2025, according to GKN Aerospace, and is meant to produce both a UAV demonstrator and a purpose-built turbojet engine within 18 months. Engineers from GKN's operations in Sweden, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom are involved.

The company said the demonstrator is intended as a flexible platform for testing future technologies. The unveiling included a scaled model of the airframe along with its engine.

Further development work will follow, GKN Aerospace said, with preparations now under way for future flight testing. No timeline for first flight was given.
