Ground worker killed by French Bee aircraft at Montreal-Trudeau Airport

A ground worker at Montreal-Trudeau International Airport has died after being struck by an aircraft operated by French low-cost carrier French Bee, according to airport officials.

The incident happened around 7:30 p.m. local time on Monday as the aircraft was reversing, CBC reported. The worker was taken to hospital but did not survive the injuries. Their identity has not been released.

The airport called the event a tragic workplace accident, saying the loss affects the entire airport community.

The French Bee flight had been scheduled to depart for Paris around 6 p.m. but was delayed at the time of the incident, according to CBC. Authorities have not confirmed the specific aircraft type involved. French Bee operates an all-Airbus A350 fleet, made up of the -900 and -1000 variants. Montreal is the carrier's only Canadian destination, served exclusively via long-haul flights from Paris Orly.

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada and Employment and Social Development Canada, the federal body overseeing labor regulations, are investigating the circumstances of the accident. No further details on the cause have been disclosed.
