Hamburg Airport converts 22 check-in desks to hybrid self-service use
Hamburg Airport is rebuilding 22 of its 90 check-in desks as hybrid positions that can be staffed or used for automated bag drop, at a cost of about 1.7 million euros.

Hamburg Airport is spending around 1.7 million euros to convert 22 of its 90 check-in desks into hybrid counters. Depending on demand, these can be staffed or used for automated baggage drop. Fourteen will be built in Terminal 1, eight in Terminal 2.
Thirty fixed self-bag-drop machines are already in place. Twelve airlines currently offer automated bag drop in Hamburg, with Turkish Airlines and Wizz Air due to join in the coming weeks.
At the gates, the airport is introducing a new announcement system that can deliver information in six languages. The changes are part of the HAM Upgrade modernisation programme, in which the airport is investing more than 35 million euros in total.
