Heathrow says third runway would create 50,000 jobs by 2055
Heathrow projects that a planned third runway would support at least 50,000 jobs in the region by 2055, about 33,000 of them in neighbouring communities. The airport also announced training and small-business programmes tied to the expansion.

Heathrow says its planned third runway will create at least 50,000 jobs in the region by 2055, according to a statement the airport issued on Monday 19 October. Around 33,000 of those would be in the surrounding communities.
Construction alone is expected to support a further 17,500 or more jobs at the busiest point of the works, the airport said.
Heathrow also announced programmes for school pupils and job seekers, including more work placements and an annual careers fair. The first fair is set for March 2027. Under an expanded support initiative, smaller companies would get easier access to contracts tied to the expansion, according to the airport.
