Hungary Airlines to offload Airbus A330 freighter amid fleet rethink
Hungary Airlines is parting with one of its Airbus A330-200P2F freighters after the owner put the aircraft up for sale, while the carrier works through maintenance delays and eyes niche cargo expansion.
Hungary Airlines will lose an Airbus A330-200 passenger-to-freighter conversion from its fleet after the aircraft's owner put it up for sale. The jet, registered HA-ZTO, is being marketed, according to Airline Economics. The carrier is reviewing leasing options and expansion plans so it can operate multiple aircraft again.
A second state-owned A330-200P2F, registered HA-LHU, is currently undergoing a C-check. Supply chain problems have pushed completion of the maintenance work to mid-September, with the freighter expected to return to full service by the end of that month.
Hungary Airlines is also shifting its focus toward specialised cargo. From the third quarter, it plans to transport live animals and temperature-controlled freight, among other niche shipments.
