SCAT Airlines and Egyptair to add Singapore routes

SCAT Airlines will launch twice-weekly flights from Shymkent to Singapore, with a technical stop in Sanya, using Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft. It is Singapore's first air link with Kazakhstan, and its first connection with Central Asia since Uzbekistan Airways suspended services to Tashkent in 2019. The airline said the route results from collaboration with civil aviation authorities in Kazakhstan, China and Singapore. Singapore will become SCAT's second Southeast Asian scheduled destination after Bangkok. It also operates charters to Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam.

Egyptair will return to Singapore after nearly 25 years, flying from Cairo to Singapore and continuing to Sydney. The service will use Airbus A350-900s, with first flights scheduled in 2027. The airline said more details will come closer to launch. Egyptair last operated to Singapore and Sydney in the early 2000s. Sydney Airport's chief executive noted the flights will bring new opportunities for tourism, trade and cultural links among Australia, Egypt and the region. Singapore Airlines previously flew to Cairo but withdrew in 2014.
