Hydro-Québec takes delivery of first of three ATR 72-600s
The Quebec utility has received the first of three ATR 72-600 turboprops ordered in April 2025, with the aircraft ferried from Toulouse to Montréal. The new planes replace older Dash 8-300 and Dash 8-400 aircraft.

Hydro-Québec has taken delivery of the first of three ATR 72-600 aircraft it ordered, according to the utility's order placed in April 2025. The aircraft, registered C-GHYQ, was flown from the ATR factory in Toulouse to Montréal, with stops at Keflavík and Goose Bay.
The state-owned energy provider also secured options on additional aircraft at the time of the order, the source states.
The incoming ATR 72-600s replace older De Havilland Canada Dash 8-300 and Dash 8-400 aircraft in the fleet. Hydro-Québec uses its aircraft to carry employees and specialists to 62 remote hydroelectric generating stations across the province of Québec.
The ATR 72-600 is fitted with PW127XT engines from Pratt & Whitney Canada.
