Icelandair mechanics end strike after disrupting flight schedule

Aircraft mechanics who work for Icelandair have ended the strike they began at 00:01 on 23 September, according to the airline. The Icelandic aircraft mechanics' association FVFÍ, which represents the carrier's mechanics, called off the action after it had disrupted flight operations and caused several cancellations, Icelandair said.

With the strike over, the airline said it expects its flight schedule to return to normal over the course of the day.

Icelandair and FVFÍ agreed to four weeks of structured negotiations led by a state mediator, Iceland Monitor reported. During that period the two sides intend to work through outstanding issues and reach a new collective agreement.
