Icelandair's Boeing 757 with Northern Lights livery scrapped in Spain

A Boeing 757-200 that wore Icelandair's Northern Lights livery has been scrapped in Spain. The aircraft, registered TF-FIU and named Hekla Aurora, was dismantled at Lleida-Alguaire Airport, according to images shared on social media.

Delivered to Iberia in 1994, the 757 was owned by Japanese lessor Itochu. It flew for Iberia and Air Europa as EC-FYK before joining Icelandair in 2004. In 2014, the airline gave it the aurora borealis paint scheme, along with an LED cabin lighting system intended to evoke the Northern Lights.

Icelandair retired the aircraft in autumn 2025, with a farewell flight in October. It was initially due to be ferried to the United States for scrapping, but in November it was flown to Lleida-Alguaire instead and broken up there.
