Katowice Airport expands arrivals terminal ahead of 2027

Katowice Airport has started work to enlarge its arrivals terminal C, according to the airport. The terminal's floor area is set to grow from 6,900 to more than 10,400 square metres by the summer season of 2027.

The airport said the expansion is expected to raise annual capacity from 2.37 million to 4.5 million passengers. Daily capacity would rise from 21,900 to 37,000 passengers.

The number of baggage carousels will increase from three to five. One will be designed to handle wide-body aircraft. A new border control area is also planned, with 16 checkpoints instead of the current eight, including ten automated passport gates.

The work carries a net cost of 34.7 million zloty, roughly 8.1 million euros. It forms part of a wider expansion programme at the airport, the airport added, though no further details on the broader programme were given in the statement.
