Montenegro to expand Podgorica and Tivat airports ahead of 2027 summer season

Montenegro plans to expand the airports in Podgorica and Tivat before the summer 2027 season. The works include larger terminal capacities, additional gates, and runway improvements. Initial measures are due to be completed before next summer. Local media reported that record traffic in 2026 created capacity bottlenecks.
The government is also preparing a new ten-year master plan. In the longer term, Podgorica is to get a new terminal and an extended runway that could handle wide-body aircraft. For Tivat, the plans call for a new terminal, additional apron and taxiway areas, and a full renovation of the runway.
