The Netherlands intends to procure the Saab GlobalEye airborne early warning and surveillance aircraft. The Dutch government has signed a letter of intent with Sweden regarding the acquisition. No purchase contract has been signed yet, and Saab has not received an order.
GlobalEye is based on a business jet and provides airborne early warning and surveillance. The system combines active and passive sensors to detect and identify targets in the air, at sea, and on land over long distances. The planned procurement is also intended to strengthen NATO's situational awareness and early warning capabilities.
