Pratt & Whitney to invest $25m in Polish engine parts plant

Pratt & Whitney is investing $25 million to expand its manufacturing site in Niepolomice, Poland, near Krakow. The facility makes tubular assemblies for commercial and military engines, including components for PW1000G geared turbofans, PW800 business jet engines, and F135 engines powering the F-35 fighter.

The expanded site is expected to be operational in 2028 and will create more than 120 jobs, the company said.

The Niepolomice investment follows a $100 million expansion announced in April for P&W's Rzeszow facility in southeastern Poland. That project adds capacity for processing isothermally forged parts, including heat treatment, sonic machining, and inspection operations. Rzeszow produces components for GTFs, F135s, and F100 fighter engines.

RTX, parent of Pratt & Whitney, employs about 9,400 people in Poland, more than in any country except the United States.

Earlier in February, P&W disclosed a $200 million investment to add a forging press at its Columbus, Georgia site. Engine makers have been adding forging and casting capacity in response to supply chain constraints that have limited supplies of cast and forged components.
