United Engine Corporation Plans Gradual Life Extension for PD-8 Engine
The United Engine Corporation aims to progressively increase the service life of the Aviadvigatel PD-8 engine for the Superjet 100, currently around 80 cycles or 40 flights.
United Engine Corporation plans to raise the service life of the new Aviadvigatel PD-8 powerplant for the Superjet 100. Deputy Industry Minister Gennady Abramenkov said in an interview that the current permissible life is roughly 80 cycles, or about 40 flights. The allowed life will be increased step by step, keeping well ahead of actual aircraft utilisation. The approach is common for new engines. The PD-8 is set to replace the French-Russian SaM146 now used on the Superjet and will power the new Russified version of the aircraft.
