ProMedia Group buys French aviation publisher Aerobuzz

ProMedia Group has acquired the French aviation media outlet Aerobuzz, which will join its FlightGlobal publishing division while keeping its brand and its Lyon base.

ProMedia Group has bought Aerobuzz, the French aviation publisher. ProMedia is based in Rotterdam and puts out business-to-business titles covering transport, logistics and mobility; Aerobuzz runs the aerobuzz.fr website and is known for video and multimedia work.

The French outlet will be folded into the aviation and aerospace publishing operation run from London, alongside flightglobal.com, the Airline Strategy Awards, the Dutch-language title Luchtvaartnieuws and other outlets.

Aerobuzz built its following largely through video. Its mostly French-language Jumpseat & Aerobuzz channel on YouTube has passed 85,000 subscribers.

Sophie Wild, managing director of FlightGlobal, said the purchase widens the division's multimedia reach at a time when finding new audiences through different content formats and social platforms matters more than before. The company had watched Aerobuzz over a period, she said, and was struck by its success in drawing a large and loyal audience. Staff will work with and learn from the incoming team to build English-language multimedia output.

Co-founders Gil Roy and Martin Roy and their colleagues will move across as part of the deal but will stay in Lyon. The Aerobuzz name will be kept. FlightGlobal traces its origins to the first issue of Flight magazine in 1909.
