Qantas and Airbus have collaborated on the A350-1000ULR, an ultra-long-range A350-1000 variant for the airline's Project Sunrise. Airbus calls it the longest-range commercial twin-engine jet built.

The design adds a 20,000-litre rear centre fuel tank, capacity meant to support flights of nearly 10,000 nautical miles, or about 18,500 kilometres.

Project Sunrise targets London and New York links with Sydney by the end of 2028.
