Qatar Airways, IAG and Malaysia Airlines prepare joint cargo venture
The cargo arms of Qatar Airways, IAG and Malaysia Airlines have completed a first test shipment ahead of a commercial launch of their joint freight business, about a year later than first planned.
The cargo arms of Qatar Airways, IAG and Malaysia Airlines are close to launching their joint freight business, according to a report on the partners' plans. Qatar Airways Cargo, IAG Cargo and MASkargo expect to begin selling the cooperation commercially in the coming weeks, about a year behind the original schedule.
An initial test shipment has already moved. A consignment of 12.1 tonnes of copper foil flew from Kuala Lumpur to Chicago via Doha and Dublin, passing between the participating airlines and their hubs.
Announced in 2025, the cooperation is designed to connect the three networks and open up more than 400 destinations. Customers would be able to book shipments on the booking platforms of all three providers.
Further tests and integration work are planned before the commercial start. No firm launch date has been given.
