Queen Alia Airport deploys smart cleaning system with robots
Amman's Queen Alia International Airport has introduced a Smart Cleaning System that uses AI, machine learning, IoT sensors, and cleaning robots to keep the terminal clean.

Queen Alia International Airport in Amman has rolled out a Smart Cleaning System that uses AI, machine learning, and IoT sensors to optimise cleaning across its terminal. The system collects and analyses real-time passenger traffic data, adjusting cleaning routes and directing resources to where they are most needed.
A new Cleaning Control Centre inside the airport's Operations Control Centre forms the core of the initiative, along with cleaning robots. The airport said the approach lets cleaning teams respond proactively to high-traffic areas, improving efficiency and hygiene standards.
Fatina Gammoh, facilities management and operations contracts manager at Airport International Group, said innovation at the airport is driven by a commitment to enhancing passenger experience while improving operational efficiency. The new system, she noted, lets teams address busy zones proactively.
Airport Service Quality surveys have long shown that cleanliness, especially in restrooms, significantly influences passenger perceptions. Airports are increasingly turning to technology and autonomous cleaning robots to maintain facilities. The robots most commonly clean floors and sanitise high-touch surfaces such as handrails, seats, and kiosks.
