Riyadh Air has expanded its domestic reach in Saudi Arabia through a new codeshare with Saudia. Since late August, passengers flying internationally with Riyadh Air have been able to book connecting domestic flights from Riyadh under a Riyadh Air flight number, according to the aviation news portal Aero Routes.

The agreement covers six domestic destinations to start. Saudia operates the flights from Riyadh to Abha, Dammam, Qassim, Jeddah, Medina and Tabuk under the arrangement.

Through the codeshare, Riyadh Air can connect its international routes to major Saudi cities via its Riyadh hub without operating the domestic legs itself. That gives the newer carrier a wider set of connections for travelers, without having to expand its own fleet or domestic schedule in the short term.

No financial details of the agreement were disclosed.
