Emirates recently posted images of its new economy-class headrest, called the U-Dream Headrest, describing it as ready for takeoff. Built into a Safran Z400 seat, the feature has padded side wings covered in leather that fold inward to support the head and neck during sleep, according to the airline.

Ryanair responded on social media with a brief dismissive comment. It came with an image of its mascot placed in an Emirates seat fitted with the new headrest, apparently unable to reach it.

Emirates didn't let the jab pass. The airline shared the image back with a comment suggesting the Ryanair mascot looked like it was enjoying extra legroom, an apparent reference to Ryanair's tighter seat pitch compared with Emirates' cabins.

The exchange quickly drew reactions from social media users. Some joked that the mascot was finally experiencing comfortable travel, while others suggested it visit Emirates' first-class shower facilities, available on some Airbus A380 aircraft. Other users defended Ryanair, noting that despite less comfortable seating, the airline offers low fares, citing an example of a 30-euro fare to Spain.

The episode is the latest in a series of public social media exchanges involving Ryanair, which is known for engaging competitors and customers alike with pointed, often humorous posts.
