Transavia plans a new route between Brussels and Ponta Delgada in the Azores from summer 2027, the airline said. Tickets are expected to go on sale from September 16, though the carrier hasn't yet confirmed a start date or flight frequency.

The Air France-KLM budget subsidiary is also adding Heraklion and Thessaloniki to its Brussels network as part of the same expansion. Portugal is becoming a growing focus for the airline out of Brussels in particular.

Transavia already flies between Brussels and Faro. It's set to begin a three-times-weekly service to Porto on December 14, according to the airline's announcement. The carrier has also increased its aircraft presence at Brussels, now basing four aircraft there, up from previous levels.

No further details on pricing or scheduling for the Ponta Delgada route have been released.
