Ryanair has joined the Federal Association of the German Tourism Industry (BTW), the carrier confirmed. The airline said it will use the membership to work alongside other industry representatives on conditions it considers more competitive for German air travel.
The push centres on Ryanair's long-standing demands of the federal government. The airline wants the air transport tax abolished, along with lower security, air navigation and airport charges. Ryanair argues that high access costs are holding back the recovery of German aviation.
BTW general secretary Sven Liebert said the broader industry representation also sends a signal to policymakers, given the pressure on German air traffic.
The membership adds Ryanair to a tourism lobby that spans travel operators and other aviation-adjacent businesses. The airline did not say what specific next steps it plans within the association.
