Saab wins $260m contract for future fighter system development
Sweden's FMV has awarded Saab a contract worth approximately 2.9 billion kronor to develop technologies for a future combat aircraft system, including manned and unmanned concepts.
Saab has received another contract from Sweden's defense materiel administration, FMV, to develop a future combat aircraft system. It is worth about 2.9 billion Swedish kronor, or roughly 260 million euros, and runs from 2026 to 2028, with options for 2029 and 2030.
The work covers further development and demonstration of new technologies, including flying and ground-based demonstrators, plus studies and concepts for manned and unmanned systems. Focus areas include system integration, autonomy, signature reduction, propulsion, and digital development. The contract builds on agreements from 2024 and 2025.
