Safran opens expanded Singapore landing gear MRO site after $22m upgrade

Safran Landing Systems has opened an expanded maintenance, repair and overhaul centre in Singapore after a $22 million upgrade to the site. The company said the addition covers 7,500 square metres and includes a new assembly line for landing gear overhauls.

The facility is Safran Landing Systems' main regional site for MRO work on commercial aircraft landing systems. Its capabilities cover disassembly, inspection, machining, surface treatment, assembly and final certification, according to the company. Aircraft supported at the site include the Airbus A320 family, A330, A350 and A380, along with the Boeing 737 and 787 and ATR regional aircraft.

The site employs 360 people, a figure the company expects to rise by another 100 by 2030. The investment received backing from the Singapore Economic Development Board.

Olivier Thomas, MRO executive vice president at Safran Landing Systems, and Stephen Marchisio, France's ambassador to Singapore, inaugurated the improved centre on September 22, 2026.

Safran Landing Systems said the expansion increases capacity and flexibility to meet the needs of major aircraft fleets and to support airlines across Asia-Pacific and the Middle East. Cindy Koh of the Singapore Economic Development Board said the expansion brings advanced repair technologies to Singapore and adds to the country's MRO offerings, while François Bastin, chief executive of Safran Landing Systems, described the inauguration as a milestone for the company.

Including Singapore, Safran Landing Systems operates seven industrial facilities worldwide, providing MRO services to airlines and military fleets.
