Scandinavian carrier SAS will restart nonstop service between Copenhagen and Mumbai starting October 2026, marking its return to the Indian market after nearly two decades.

SAS has announced plans to resume flights to India after a 17-year absence, with a new year-round nonstop route connecting Copenhagen and Mumbai set to begin on 1 October 2026. The Scandinavian carrier will operate the service five times weekly using an Airbus A330 configured with 266 seats, according to the airline.

According to the schedule shared by the airline, flights departing Copenhagen will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, among other days. The route represents SAS's re-entry into the Indian aviation market after a lengthy gap in direct service between the two cities.

The move reflects a broader push by European carriers to restore or expand long-haul connections to South Asia as demand for premium and leisure travel on these routes grows. Further operational details, including pricing and full weekly frequency patterns, were not disclosed in the announcement.
