Shannon Airport lifts hand luggage liquid limit to two litres
Passengers at Shannon Airport can now carry liquids, aerosols and gels in containers of up to two litres in their cabin baggage, replacing the previous 100ml cap. The change follows investment in new screening technology and upgrades to scanners first installed in 2021.
Passengers flying out of Shannon Airport can now carry liquids, aerosols and gels in hand luggage in containers of up to two litres. The old 100ml limit is gone.
The new allowance is already in effect. Shannon says it follows investment in new security screening equipment and upgrades to parts of its existing 3D scanners, first installed in 2021.
The screening setup had already removed the need for travellers to take liquids, aerosols and gels, or electronic devices such as laptops, out of their cabin bags at security. The airport says this has cut the number of touchpoints and sped up the journey through security.
The change applies to departing passengers at the Irish airport.
